EtherCAT Diagnostics: General Tab

To access this window: In the EtherCAT Diagnostics, in the EtherCAT Explorer pane, click a device in the list, then click the General tab.

 

Use the General tab of the EtherCAT Diagnostics as follows, based on whether the MainDevice or a SubDevice is selected in the EtherCAT Explorer pane.

MainDevice

MainDevice Status Summary:

Provides details on:

MainDevice State:

View the current state of the network, and the target state. If the network has not achieved the target state, there are errors on some SubDevices preventing all the devices from reaching that state. For details, see EtherCAT State Machine.

Use the buttons to change the Target State of the network. In some troubleshooting situations, it may be helpful to use the buttons to change the target state, bringing the network to a lower state such as Pre-Op, then trying to increase the state.

Information:

Provides various details of the MainDevice and the network.

Frame Counter:

Displays how many frames have been sent. Use the Clear Counters button to reset all the counters to zero.

Memory Usage:

Displays how much memory is being used.

SubDevice

SubDevice State:

View the current state of the SubDevice, and the requested state. If the SubDevice has not achieved the requested state, there are errors preventing it from reaching that state. For details, see EtherCAT State Machine.

Use the buttons to change the Requested State of the SubDevice. In some troubleshooting situations, it may be helpful to use the buttons to change the requested state, bringing the SubDevice to a lower state such as Pre-Op, then trying to increase the state.

Software Diagnostics:

Displays whether a state machine error exists.

Hardware Diagnostics:

The Port boxes list which devices this SubDevice is connected to on the network, and whether any error exists. Errors are latched and can be cleared by clicking Acknowledge. Errors are also cleared when the network restarts.
